Knockvicar House is great fun for kids, offering them interesting discoveries and plenty of space to romp around. Whether they are playing in the garden, combing their way through the woods or – a very special highlight – come to visit our Alpacas: our youngest guests usually experience their stay at Knockvicar House as an exciting adventure and an unforgettable experience. To enjoy your holiday to the full, please read the information below about what amenities we have available for you and what you shouldn’t forget to pack.
What we have available:
Knockvicar House is fully equipped. Fresh bedlinen and towels are included in the service fee and waiting for you in your bedroom. You won’t miss anything in our kitchen. Pots and plates, cups and cutlery as well as all the tiny things that you don’t want to miss during your holidays are available in sufficient amounts. To make sure the holiday atmosphere lasts well beyond your first outdoor adventure, you can use our washing machine to put everyone back into clean clothes. Feel free to use the games and toys available at the house but please treat them as if they were your own. We are aware that things can break despite careful handling. If this happens, please let us know so that we can take care of the problem.
What you should remember to bring:
Ireland is called the Emerald Isle for a reason. The lush green needs rain to sprout. And true to the adage ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing,’ we definitely recommend you to bring rain clothes that also keep up with a certain amount of mud. Gum boots for the youngest and a pair of weather-proof hiking or trekking boots for everyone else should also be on your packing list. Generally, Irish winters are milder than in Continental Europe, but the summers are cooler. So don’t forget your favourite warm sweater. Since the weather changes quickly it is advisable to wear several layers of clothing on top of each other. This way you can easily adapt to the elements. And don’t forget that the weather near the coast is often quite windy. Wind-proof clothing will therefore make your seaside experience much more comfortable.
Knockvicar House is best reached by car. Families with younger children should remember to bring a child seat or booster seat, which can be rented from the big car rental companies (upon request, fees apply) or brought from home and used as a booster on the airplane.
After an exciting day out, you can enjoy a romantic evening in front of the fireplace. You also find a TV set and a CD player in the living room, so don’t forget to bring your favourite CDs and DVDs.
